Groaning softly, I open my eyes. A gentle hand strokes my cheek, and I look up to find Alex staring down at me.

The second he notices that I’m looking at him, he pulls his hand back.

“I’m sorry.” He apologizes quickly.

Behind me, Silas releases a low growl.

“What are you doing here, Alex?” I ask breathlessly.

He hesitates a moment before speaking. “I didn’t know how to wake you …and then when I saw you, I just…I was remembering our short time together.”

“Alex…” I breathe out.

“I’m sorry.” He repeats while bowing his head.

Silas wraps his arms tightly around me while releasing another growl. Anger radiates from him as he nuzzles his face against my neck. I shiver as his fangs scrape across my skin.

“You should leave, Alex,” I stress.

Instead of leaving, Alex remains standing in place while his eyes turn red and his fangs descend.

“Alex, leave; now,” I demand.

Tension builds in the room until Alex shakes his head roughly. His eyes quickly go wide before he runs from the room.

“What the hell was that about?” I huff out.

“I don’t know, but his mind was all over the place,” Silas replies before kissing my neck. “He’s a bit of a mess. He seems to still love you, Darling.”

“What are we going to do about him? Should we tell Erik?” I ask.

“For now, let’s keep it between us. I’ll make sure he doesn’t do anything stupid.” Silas replies. “And if it becomes a problem, then we’ll let Erik know.”

“Erik will be pissed if he finds out we’ve kept this from him.” I breathe out while turning to face Silas.

“He’ll get over it,” Silas replies with a cocky smirk.

“You’re terrible sometimes.” I laugh.

Silas chuckles and then becomes serious. “Erik has enough to worry about right now. I can handle a confused vampire.”

I nod. “Okay.”

After a few moments, I groan. “I hope Erik and the others come home soon. I’m starting to get hungry.”

Silas raises his brow. “You are?”

“Yes, can’t you feel it?” I reply.

“No, I can’t.” He breathes out. “I’m not hungry at all.”

“Weird…” I whisper.

“I’m starting to think weird is normal when it comes to you, Darling.” Silas snorts before leaning in to brush his lips tenderly across mine. “…And I wouldn’t have it any other way.”

“I love you, Silas,” I reply while gazing into his eyes.

“I love you too.” He replies with a grin before moving over me on the bed.

Before Silas can make another move, someone clears their throat from the door.

“Am I interrupting something?” Erik asks with a grin.

Silas snorts while turning his head to look at Erik. “No, you have perfect timing. Our girl is hungry.”

Without hesitating, Erik moves to the bed while Silas helps me sit up.

Erik pulls me into his lap before tilting his head to expose his neck to me.

“How did the meeting with the council go?” I ask while searching his eyes.

“It didn’t go well.” He answers honestly.

“What happened?” I push.

Erik sighs while placing his hands on either side of my face. “It’s nothing you need to worry about.
